Larry Bjornson began his music education at Detroit’s Center for Creative Studies Jazz Workshop under trumpeter Marcus Belgrave. He earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance from McGill University and continued graduate studies at Wayne State University. Returning to Detroit, Bjornson became a regular bassist for Belgrave, performed extensively, and joined the Michigan Opera Theatre orchestra. His wide-ranging career includes performances with artists from The Moody Blues and Nell Carter to leading jazz figures like Charles McPherson, James Carter, and Charles Tolliver, as well as entertainers such as Joan Rivers and Regis Philbin.
